What you can expect

Swim with humpback whales off the Sunshine Coast. Led by experienced freedivers, this four-hour tour offers you and a small group of up to six the chance to swim alongside one of the world's largest and most gentle creatures. While every effort is made to ensure you can swim with the whales, this experience is subject to daily conditions and the whales' behavior. All necessary gear is provided, though you are welcome to bring your own swimsuits. Swimming with these gentle giants is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will leave you with unforgettable memories.

  • All participants must be 10+ years to enjoy this experience
  • Weather is monitored and you will be informed approximately 3 days prior if conditions are looking less ideal, and will confirm the day prior
  • Certification is not required, but participants must be in good health and physically fit to join the water activities
  • This experience adheres to the Australian National Guidelines for Whale and Dolphin Watching 2017 and the Biodiversity Conservation Regulations 2017 Act
  • Disclaimer 1: There is no guarantee of whales or getting in the water with whales. The experience provider reserves the right to decide which whales are suitable and which are not. This is an organic experience and every interaction is on the whale's behalf. The provider reserves the right to cancel the trip at any given time in adverse weather conditions. Lastly, if you pose a threat to yourself, others or the whale by not listening to crew instructions this could also result in a termination of the trip or in water activities
  • Disclaimer 2: By booking this experience, participants acknowledge and understand that they will interact with large animals. While the experience provider has taken all necessary precautions to ensure a safe and controlled environment, it is important to recognise that there is always an inherent risk associated with such activities
  • If the skipper and crew do not see any whales on the trip they will assess conditions and take you to a snorkelling spot to swim with turtles instead, at that point they will only charge you for snorkelling at the Mudjimba trip, and you can use your leftover credit for any of our other trips. Sometimes whales are a little shy and might be involved in a ‘heat run’ (mating behaviours). A heat run is often accompanied by lots of tail and peck fin slaps in which case it would not be safe to enter the water
